I am a keyboard instrument tuner with over a decade of experience working with period instruments, specialising in harpsichords and chamber organs. My work has supported professional performances, recordings, and operatic productions within the early music world, often in demanding, time-sensitive environments where precision, reliability, and calm problem-solving are key.

I have tuned for a range of internationally respected ensembles and institutions, including:

  • Bayerische Staatsoper (under Ivor Bolton)

  • The Sixteen (under Harry Christophers)

  • Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (under Sir Simon Rattle)

  • London Handel Festival

  • Garsington Opera

Alongside my technical work, I have a background as a performing and recording musician. I was a member of the art-rock band Squid, touring internationally and recording three albums. While very different from early music, this experience deepened my listening skills, musical sensitivity, and understanding of how instruments function within real performance conditions. I also hold a BA in Music from the University of Sussex.

More recently, I have begun training as a piano tuner, approaching the instrument with the same care and respect that has guided my work with historical keyboards. I consider myself very much at an early stage in this field, and I am open about that. My aim is not to offer rushed or casual work, but to develop a thorough, professional understanding of piano tuning and maintenance, grounded in careful study, consistent practice, and close attention to the mechanical and acoustic behaviour of each instrument.

Having spent many years tuning period instruments under pressure, often with performers, conductors, and audiences waiting, I am keenly aware that high-quality tuning comes only through patience, experience, and long-term dedication.

My goal is to build a career within the piano trade that reflects both technical discipline and musical awareness offering clients a conscientious, thoughtful service, clear communication, and a tuning carried out to a high standard — while continuing to deepen my skills through ongoing learning and practice.
